SKRECC Announces Results of 2025 Board of Directors Election

South Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (SKRECC) is pleased to announce the results of its 2025 Board of Directors election. As a member-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperative, South Kentucky RECC is governed by a seven-member board elected by the very members they serve—upholding the cooperative principle of democratic member control.

This year, members had the opportunity to vote online via SmartHub from May 23 through June 6, or in person during SKRECC’s Annual Membership Days, held June 10–12 at five convenient voting locations across the service area.

After a successful and secure election process, the SKRECC Credentials and Elections Committee has certified the official results for the District 1 seat, which covers southwestern Pulaski County.

Incumbent Cathy Crew Epperson has been re-elected to continue representing District 1. Epperson received 2532 votes, while challenger Rick Barker received 2333 votes.

Kevin Newton, President and CEO of South Kentucky RECC, shared his appreciation for the democratic process: “Member participation is the cornerstone of cooperative leadership. We’re grateful to all who voted and to the candidates who stepped up to serve. These elections reflect the strength of our cooperative values and the dedication of our community.”

South Kentucky RECC extends sincere thanks to all members who participated in this year’s election and encourages continued engagement in shaping the future of the cooperative.

Epperson will officially begin her four-year term in July 2025.
