Who Powers You? Nominate Someone Making a Difference

South Kentucky RECC is encouraging members to help recognize individuals who are making a difference in their communities through the 2026 Who Powers You contest.

Now in its sixth year, the contest celebrates members of Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives who go above and beyond to help others and make their communities better places to live.

Over the years, several South Kentucky RECC members have been recognized for their outstanding contributions. In 2024, Billy Hayes earned first place for his efforts to provide food to families in need during the holiday season. Boyd Rowe received second place in 2023 for his dedication to advancing cancer research, and in 2025, Mike and Julie Peterson earned third place for their work with Project 58:10, a ministry that provides backpacks filled with food for children facing food insecurity.

These individuals are examples of what the Who Powers You contest is all about: recognizing everyday people who see a need in their community and take action to make a difference.

Nominations for the 2026 contest are open October 1 through October 31. Three winners will be selected to receive cash prizes:

  • First Place: $2,000
  • Second Place: $1,500
  • Third Place: $500

Anyone can submit a nomination, but nominees must be members of one of Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives. Nominations will be evaluated by a panel of out-of-state judges, and winners will be announced in November.

South Kentucky RECC encourages members to think about the neighbors, friends and community volunteers who quietly give their time and talents to help others.
